I am interested in how wildlife respond to environmental change.

I am the lab manager in Dr. Nick Haddad's lab at Michigan State University's W.K. Kellogg Biological Station, and I'm involved with many projects and experiments at long-term research sites, including Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER), Long-Term Agroecosystem Research (LTAR), and Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC).

Our lab studies the effects of human activity on landscapes and the wildlife living in and around those landscapes. We think a lot about how to make agricultural practices more sustainable and resilient to climate change. Much of our research at KBS focuses on promoting biodiversity through emerging agricultural practices, like strategically planting native flowers and grasses in row crop fields, diversifying bioenergy crops, and reducing tillage and chemical inputs. We work primarily with insects, including butterflies, bees, moths, ants, dragonflies, and beetles, all of whom provide a range of ecosystem services like pollination, pest control, and decomposition, to name a few. We have also been known to cozy up to some non-insect organisms occasionally, like birds and plants!
